Mathews Range

The Mathews Range or Lenkiyio Hills in northern Kenya has been called a “biological bonanza” and the “sky island” due to its diverse and unique ecosystems that sit 6,000 feet above the Samburu desert.

Rugged peaks, deep valleys, and dense Afro-montane forests are a haven for biodiversity, providing a habitat for mountain elephants, buffalos, and a rich array of birdlife.

The Mathews Range holds deep cultural significance for the Samburu people, who consider it a sacred and integral part of their heritage.

Ndoto Mountains

The Ndoto Mountains are a remote cluster of dramatic mountains in the deserts of northern Kenya, The region is relatively untouched and boasts a diverse array of flora and fauna, including rare and endemic species.

The Ndoto Mountains offer a pristine and off-the-beaten-path destination for adventurers, providing not only breathtaking landscapes but also an opportunity to experience the tranquility and cultural richness of this remote corner of Kenya.

Samburu

North of the Laikipia Plateau, Kenya’s landscape drops into the Samburu region, a land of contrasts.

This vast semi-arid scrubland is criss-crossed by mighty palm-lined rivers and punctuated by spectacular table mountains, rock formations, and crystal blue springs. With the majority of Samburu designated as conservation land, this landscapes is a haven for wildlife.

It also remains the home of the iconic Samburu people. The Maa speaking peoples of Kenya have no word for ‘stranger’.
